What tiger eye is
Tiger eye is a quartz gem material known for a moving band of reflected light, an effect called chatoyancy. The Gemological Institute of America describes this silky reflection and the material’s use in polished beads and cabochons. How clearly you see the band depends on the stone, its cut and the light.

What we know about treatment
Our beads are sold as natural mineral stone. Natural origin does not mean untreated, so here is what we can say for each strand, and what we cannot.
- Yellow tiger eye and golden tiger eye are the stone's usual color range. Our supplier has not yet provided a treatment record for either strand, and we would rather say that than guess.
- Red tiger eye: we do not have a supplier treatment record for this strand. Its color alone does not establish whether it has been treated.
A photograph cannot establish authenticity or treatment. What we can do is tell you, per strand, exactly what we know: bead size, the name the stone is sold under, and whether a treatment record exists. If you receive a strand and have doubts, photograph it in daylight and email us; we will tell you what we know about that piece.
Wearing it, and looking after it
Which wrist? There is no rule we enforce. Traditions differ and none of them is ours to sell. Wear it on the wrist where it sits comfortably and where you will actually see it.
Water, sleep, the gym. Take it off. Hot water, chlorine and constant stretching are hard on the elastic cord.
Cleaning. A soft, dry cloth after wear. No chemicals, no ultrasonic cleaners. Roll the bracelet over your hand rather than pulling it wide. The full routine is on the care page.
