Made to be lived in.
A few small habits keep it that way.

A few simple habits help care for your stone beads and elastic cord. Start with the five habits below, then check any guidance specific to your stone.

Out of strong sun
Long, direct UV can slowly lighten amethyst and other coloured stones.
Off before water
Chlorine and hot water are what age the elastic cord.
Wipe it clean
A soft, dry cloth after wear keeps the beads bright. No chemicals.
Give it its own space
Store it separately in its box, away from other jewellery, so the beads do not knock or scratch.

Do

  • Wear it often. Worn regularly, the beads pick up a soft, hand-polished sheen — stone likes being lived with.
  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after a long day, especially in summer.
  • Take it off before bed, water, and workouts — it lasts longer when it isn’t stretched or soaked.
  • Store it flat in its box when you’re not wearing it, away from windowsills.
  • Put it on last — after lotion, perfume, and hairspray have dried.

Don’t

  • Leave it in strong, direct sun for hours — UV can fade coloured stones over time.
  • Shower, swim, or sleep in it. Water and constant tension wear the elastic cord.
  • Soak it or use chemical cleaners, ultrasonic machines, or alcohol.
  • Yank it on and off. Roll it gently over your hand to spare the cord.
  • Toss it loose in a bag with keys or hard jewellery that can chip a bead.

Five habits. None of them take a minute.

01

Keep it out of prolonged strong sun

Worn day to day, your bracelet is fine in daylight. What it doesn’t love is sitting for hours in direct, intense sun — a hot car dashboard, a south-facing windowsill.

Why: amethyst and many coloured quartzes get their colour partly from natural irradiation. Strong, sustained UV can slowly lighten that colour. Shade keeps the purple deep.

02

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth

After wear, give the beads a gentle wipe with a soft microfibre or lint-free cloth. That’s all most stones need to stay clear and bright.

Why: skin oils, lotion, and dust dull the surface over time. A quick wipe lifts them without any liquid or chemicals near the cord.

03

Take it off before showering & swimming

Remove your bracelet before showering, swimming, the gym, or washing dishes. Set it somewhere safe — ideally back in its box.

Why: hot water, soap, chlorine, and salt water are hard on the elastic cord and can leave residue between beads. Dry stone lasts longer.

04

Store it separately

When you’re not wearing it, rest the bracelet flat in its box, separate from other jewellery and loose quartz chips.

Why: stones are hard but not unbreakable. Knocking against keys, coins, or other jewellery can chip an edge. Separate storage reduces contact with hard objects; keep the box away from direct sunlight.

05

Be kind to the elastic cord

Roll the bracelet on and off over your hand rather than stretching it wide. Put it on last, after lotion and perfume have dried.

Why: the beads sit on an elastic cord. Rolling the bracelet on and off avoids pulling the cord wide.

A note on the cord

The cord is the one part that wears.

Check the elastic regularly for slack, fraying or damage. If the cord looks worn or the bracelet no longer sits securely, stop wearing it until you have checked the available repair options.

If you would like it re-strung, email us about your bracelet. We will tell you what is possible for that piece, including any cost, before you decide.

Optional · a small ritual

If you enjoy it, set it down now and then.

This part is for those who enjoy it — nothing here is required to keep your bracelet in good shape. Some people like to set their stone down now and then, the way you’d clear a desk before starting fresh. Treat it as a quiet moment, not a rule.

  • Your included clear quartz chips. Each box contains 20–40 g. For an optional cleansing ritual, place the chips in a small dish beside your bracelet, take a breath, and set an intention. This personal ritual does not replace cleaning or care. Small pieces: keep away from children and pets.
  • Soft moonlight. Leave it on a sill overnight under the moon — gentle, indirect light that won’t fade the colour the way harsh sun can.
  • A breath of smoke or incense. Pass it briefly through the scent of sage, palo santo, or incense you like.
  • Sound. A bell, a singing bowl, or simply a slow minute of quiet near it.
  • A clear intention. Hold it for a moment, name one thing you want for the next few weeks, and put it back on.

We frame this honestly: it’s a personal ritual, not a claim. The care steps above are what actually protect the stone and cord. Avoid water-soaking and direct sun even when “cleansing” — they undo the care, not help it.

Care questions

A splash won’t ruin it, but make a habit of taking it off before showering, swimming, and washing up. It’s the repeated soaking and tension that wears the elastic cord, not a single drop.
Day-to-day daylight is fine. What you want to avoid is hours of direct, strong sun — a hot dashboard, a bright windowsill, day after day. Amethyst and other coloured stones can lighten slowly under sustained UV, so we keep them shaded when stored.
A soft, dry cloth is all you need — no chemical cleaners, alcohol, or ultrasonic machines. If beads feel grimy, a barely-damp cloth followed by a dry one is fine; just avoid soaking the cord.
No. It’s entirely optional and personal — some people enjoy it, some skip it. The practical care steps are what keep your bracelet in good shape. If you do reset it, use indirect moonlight or sound, never water-soaking or strong sun.
If the cord has loosened or looks damaged, stop wearing the bracelet and email us. We will check what is possible for your piece, including any cost, before you decide.
