What makes the silver sheen?
Obsidian is volcanic glass. In sheen varieties, light interacts with tiny internal features to produce a reflection. A GIA review of gemstone optical effects describes internal reflections associated with aligned features and inclusions in obsidian. The exact structure can differ between samples; we have not tested the inclusions in this strand.
For choosing a bracelet, the useful distinction is visual. Plain black obsidian is selected for its dark appearance; silver sheen is selected for a silvery reflection; gold sheen has a warmer reflection. These names describe an appearance. A photograph alone does not establish identity, treatment or origin.
Look at the bracelet in more than one light when it arrives. A subdued reflection in diffuse light and a stronger one at another angle can be part of the same bead. Avoid judging the whole strand from one brightly lit image.
10mm is the bead size, not the wrist size.
The sample in our photo has 19 beads. Using the recorded bead diameter gives an estimated inner circumference of about 16cm. This is a photo-based estimate with approximately ±1.3cm uncertainty, not a measured fit guarantee.
A 10mm bead is 2mm wider than an 8mm bead. It creates a more substantial profile, but it does not tell you how much space is inside the loop. Measure your actual wrist, then send us the measurement so we can tell you what size information is on record before you order.

What is on record for this bracelet?
Stone Whisper has confirmed that this silver sheen obsidian is not dyed or heated. That is our seller statement; we do not currently have an independent laboratory report or verified origin documentation for this strand.
We describe the color, bead measurements and sample we have. We do not assign a laboratory grade or promise an identical reflection on every bead. Read the current product details before making your choice.
A little care for glass and cord.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Keep the bracelet separate from harder jewelry, and take it off before exercise, showering, swimming or household cleaning. Avoid hard knocks, harsh chemicals and prolonged soaking; the cord needs care as well as the beads.
