Read the light across the whole strand.
- Black base: look at the dark areas between the highlights. They give the bracelet its depth.
- Silver reflection: notice the soft patches of light on the beads, rather than looking for a flat silver color.
- Overall balance: follow the brighter and darker beads around the loop to see how much contrast you enjoy.

A little care for glass and cord.

Before you choose
Is obsidian the same as black onyx?
No. Obsidian is natural volcanic glass. Onyx is a form of chalcedony, a quartz material. GIA explains that the trade name “black onyx” often refers to dyed black chalcedony. Similar-looking black beads are not automatically the same material. Ask for the precise material name and treatment information, then check the specific strand’s bead size and fit.
