What rose quartz is
Rose quartz is one of the quartz varieties used as a gem. The Gemological Institute of America attributes its pink to microscopic, aligned silicate fibre inclusions, which also give the stone its characteristic cloudy translucence and are why it is usually cut into beads rather than faceted (GIA, Rose Quartz Description). GIA rates it 7 on the Mohs scale (GIA, Rose Quartz Care and Cleaning).

What we know about treatment
“Grade A” and “Madagascar” reflect supplier product names. We do not currently hold independent documentation of origin or an independent grading report.
Our beads are sold as natural mineral stone. Natural origin does not mean untreated. For these two strands our supplier has not yet provided a treatment record; when we have it, it goes on the product page. A photograph cannot establish authenticity or treatment. If you receive a strand and have doubts, photograph it in daylight and email us; we will tell you what we know about that piece.
Wearing it, and looking after it
Which wrist? No rule we enforce. Wear it where it sits comfortably and where you will see it.
Light and heat. GIA describes rose quartz as generally stable when exposed to light and heat (GIA). We still keep every strand out of long, strong sun as a habit, because the cord and other stones on the same wrist are not as forgiving.
Water, sleep, the gym. Take it off, for the cord's sake. GIA lists warm soapy water as safe for the stone itself and says to avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners; for a strung bracelet, a soft dry cloth is the routine. Store flat away from harder jewelry. Full routine on the care page.
