In crystal tradition, obsidian is a stone people carry for grounding and protection. Gold sheen obsidian looks dark at first, then shows a golden shine when the light moves across it. A palm stone is made to be held, and this one is smooth, oval and about 5–6 cm, so it rests in the middle of your palm.

The story

At Çatalhöyük, archaeologists found an obsidian mirror shaped from a piece of worked volcanic glass. Its reflective face was made through grinding and polishing, showing how carefully a dark stone could be transformed into an object for looking.

Carrying it your way

Keep it in a coat pocket and hold it on the way into a meeting or a hard phone call. At home, leave it in a small dish by the door so it goes out with you.
