For the start of a love story, or the hope of one. A 28 mm amethyst flower carved as a peach blossom.
The flower of romance, in amethyst.
In Chinese tradition the peach blossom is the flower of romance. People still talk about peach blossom luck, táohuā yùn, for a season when love and admiration seem to find you. This blossom is carved from amethyst, five petals with fine grooved veins, and drilled through one petal so it can go on a cord.
The story
In Tao Qian’s Peach Blossom Spring, a fisherman follows a stream lined with blossoms and discovers a community sheltered from outside turmoil. When he later tries to return, he cannot find it, leaving the blossoms linked with a briefly glimpsed refuge.
Wearing or keeping it
Thread it on a thin cord or ribbon of your own and wear it, or keep it loose in a small dish by your bed. Tucked into a card, it makes a sweet anniversary or Valentine's gift.
