For the friend who likes her finds sorted and lined up. Nine specimen-style pieces, each in its own small case.
A small collection, case by case.
Collectors keep each find in its own case, so it can be taken out, looked at and put back. This kraft box holds nine specimen-style pieces that way, with rough surfaces, purple clusters and a spiral-shaped piece among them. The pieces aren't identified by mineral or fossil type, so enjoy them for their shapes and textures.
The story
When Hans Sloane died in 1753, his vast collection helped form the founding collection of the British Museum. Objects once gathered by one curious person became part of a public place for many people to look and learn.
Giving it
Give it to someone who loves museums and old shops, or keep the cases on a shelf and take one out when you want something to look at closely.
